DOW FUTURES - DICEY
Technically the MKT is in a NEUTRAL CORRECTIVE state producing a negative signal against a positive trend. Opportunity exists on both sides of the MKT.
Key off the 10799 Inflection Pivot for an indication of the session bias. If the corrective trade is going to have a bite the MKT will remain below here. A held breach and the buyers will try to take back the reigns.
On the SELL side avoid FADE strategies until after the previous session low point or major support level has been broken to confirm a negative shift in momentum. Until then a better opportunity will be a REVERSAL strategy but only off the 1st major resistance level. This is a one shot trade using a low risk big profit target criteria. The idea is that if the MKT is going to follow through on its negative signal any strength is just a "head fake " before it follows through. SELL BREAKOUT strategies can be profitable but they are aggressive and should look to take profits and potentially REVERSE long at support targets. The trade is corrective and the underlying positive tone must be respected.
On the BUY side accept BREAKOUT, FADE and REVERSAL strategies off major inflection points with the expectation that the positive momentum is going to resume. REVERSAL strategies are recommended over a FADE strategies, which should have at least 1 if not 2 challenges to the support integrity before executing a long off it. BREAKOUT strategies can risk a little more if current events and other MKTs of confluence confirm a positive posture with the expectation that the Bull Trend is going to resume. If not a better approach would be to FADE a negative "squeeze" reaction after a positve breakout signal as the neutral technical position can keep the trend sideways.
Note: The MKT is in a corrective position with the potential to move in either direction. Keep your opinions to themselves and focus on what the MKT is telling you it wants to do. Don't fight it, roll with it.

DOW FUTURES - TRYING TO TURN THE CORNER
Technically the MKT is in a NEUTRAL CORRECTIVE state producing a big positive signal against a negative trend. Opportunity exists on both sides of the MKT.
Key off the 9952 Inflection Pivot today. This is the base supporting the MKTs new found strength. Above here the corrective trade continues. Below here and the fear factor returns.
On the SELL side accept BREAKOUT, FADE and REVERSAL strategies off major inflection points with the expectation that the negative momentum is going to resume. REVERSAL strategies are recommended over a FADE strategies off the 10144 resistance, which should have at least 1 if not 2 challenges to the integrity of the resistance before executing a sale against it. BREAKOUT strategies below 10028 and 9952 can risk a little more if current events and other MKTs of confluence confirm a negative posture. If not a better approach would be to FADE a positive "squeeze" reaction after a negative breakdown signal against 10067 as the neutral technical position can keep the trend sideways.
On the BUY side avoid FADE strategies off the 10028 and 9952 support levels until after the previous session high point or major resistance level has been taken out to confirm a positive shift in momentum. REVERSAL strategies should be avoided as any negative signal is more likely an indication that the underlying trend is going to resume. BUY BREAKOUT strategies above 10144 can be profitable but they are aggressive and should look to take profits and potentially REVERSE short at resistance targets. The trade is counter trend so avoid any positive commitments.
Note: The MKT has produced a big technical signal against the current trend. Be aware that the positive action may be a 1-day event with the negative trend quickly re-establishing itself. If the MKT is really going to turn it should remain firm and not look back.

DOW FUTURES - TIGHT ROPE

The MKT is pressing into an exhaustive extreme and is vulnerable to a corrective trade. Respect positive structure but be ready to roll with any negative turn expecting a play for the 11080 Inflection Pivot. Key off the 11221 resistance inflection for the upside exhaustion signal.
On the Sell side REVERSAL strategies off the 11221 and 11315 resistance levels will work best as any unsustained positive signal is expected to provide a sharp negative reaction. FADE strategies against 11221 are valid but will work better after the 2nd or 3rd press into an area. BREAKOUT strategies below 11127 are a lower probability but do have the potential to provide an emotional release down to 11080 and 10962.
On the Buy side FADE and REVERSAL strategies are recommended off 11127 and 11080. BREAKOUT strategies above the 11221 resistance pivot should hold structure after a resistance breach if they are going to follow through. Any break in momentum and the market will be vulnerable to drop back into a digestive trade.
Note: The MKT has stalled and may need a session or two to catch its breath or it already has. Keep an open mind and let the MKT tell you was is.

DOW FUTURES - Holding firm above 10652

Technically the MKT is in a BULL TREND posture and has just produced a major technical signal in the direction of the trend. If the integrity of the previous session low remains intact, look for excuses to get long.
10652 is the Inflection Pivot keeping the aggressive buy posture in play.
On the SELL side BREAKOUT strategies below 10652 are a low probability but valid. Risk little and go for a lot. If the MKT is going to turn sour, it should be quick and relentless. Avoid FADE strategies as the MKT has just produced a major buy signal and fresh gains are expected. REVERSAL strategies as well are not recommended, as any resistance level violation that cannot be held is more likely a squeeze for the longs, which can quickly turn positive.
On the BUY side BREAKOUT, FADE and REVERSAL are recommended as the MKT is aggressively bid and all buy signals are valid opportunity. If stopped out at or near the low tic of a reaction and the MKT is not following through to the downside, leverage up using the squeeze low as a stop, expecting a quick reaction back above your original entry. De-leverage unless you have confluence with other indicators or like MKTs. 10778 is the hurdle for any new advance.
Note: The MKT has produced a big positive technical signal and should immediately go higher, after at most, one pullback. A laborious trade and the MKT may wait till the end of the session to make its move.

DOW FUTURES - CORRECTIVE SIGNAL
Technically the MAR'10 DOW FUTURES contract is in a NEUTRAL CORRECTIVE state producing a big negative signal against a positive trend. Opportunity exists on both sides today with 10322 the key Inflection Pivot for the session.

On the SELL side avoid FADE strategies until after the previous session low point or 10259 support level has been broken to confirm a negative shift in momentum. REVERSAL strategies should be avoided as any positive signal is more likely an indication that the underlying trend is going to resume. SELL BREAKOUT strategies below 10259 can be profitable but they are aggressive and should look to take profits and potentially REVERSE long at support targets. The trade is counter trend so avoid any negative commitments.
On the BUY side accept BREAKOUT, FADE and REVERSAL strategies off major inflection points with the expectation that the positive momentum is going to resume. REVERSAL strategies are recommended over a FADE strategies off the 10259 support pivot, which should have at least 1 if not 2 challenges to the support integrity before executing a long off it. BREAKOUT strategies above 10385 or off 10322 can risk a little more if current events and other MKTs of confluence confirm a positive posture. If not a better approach would be to FADE a negative "squeeze" reaction after a positive breakout signal as the neutral technical position can keep the trend sideways.
Note: The MKT has produced a big technical signal against the current trend. Be aware that the negative action may be a 1-day event with the positive trend quickly re-establishing itself. If the MKT is really going to turn it should remain hard pressed and provide little or no relief.

Positive Signal - DOW FUTURES H'10
** BULL TREND ACCELERATION **
Technically the MAR'10 DOW FUTURES is in a BULL TREND ACCELERATION posture and has produced a big positive signal. The MKT should "run" to a new level if the signal is valid.

On the SELL side REVERSAL strategies can be executed at the 10570 and 10686 extremes following an exhaustive signal. Expectations should be for an immediate exhaustive turn with the MKT quickly moving away from the area. A gradual decline following a reversal signal and it is more likely just a pause before another round of buying, so lock in any unrealized gains. SELL FADE strategies against 10416 and 10570 have potential but wait for repeated tests, with the best opportunity not violating the resistance level. Consider rolling long on any stops with this strategy. SELL BREAKOUT strategies below 10262 are not recommended but can be used as a signal for a FADE against Directional resistance at 10339.
Technically the MAR'10 DOW FUTURES is in a BULL TREND ACCELERATION posture and has produced a big positive signal. The MKT should "run" to a new level if the signal is valid.

Key off the 10262 Inflection Pivot as the sentiment bias for this signal.

On the BUY side accept FADE, REVERSAL and BREAKOUT strategies above the previous session's low point or 10262 Inflection Pivot. BREAKOUT strategies above 10416 early in the session may have issues holding structure, so respect any break in momentum. BUY FADE strategies off 10262 are recommended over REVERSAL strategies as the MKT is expected to hold higher structure and any failure should be considered a potential negative corrective shift. The MKT is aggressively bid which should keep pace throughout the session if the TREND ACCELERATION forecast is going to play out.
Note: The worst-case scenario for a MKT in this technical position is to go higher early in the session and then break all day. Be alert and recognize this. If you have > 3 loser long trades, consider taking the next sell signal, anticipating a corrective turn. Remember in this technical position if the MKT is going higher, it should just go. If not, there is the potential for a corrective break or digestive trading environment.
Good Trading.

BULL TREND CORRECTION Signals for : SP500, DOW Futures, FTSE 100
The Strategy Based Trading approach is the focus on the applied strategy and aligining our strategy criteria with the market's underlying technical state.
Today we are going to focus on MKTs that have produced a negative signal against an underlying positive trend or a BULL TREND CORRECTION signal state. A dynamic technical state with opportunity on both sides of the market.

The question, is this negative signal going to follow through or is this just a 1 day event and the underlying positive momentum is going to resume. The price point that answers this question and determines this "sentiment shift" is the session Inflection Pivot. This is the price point that defines the technical state from being a negative "corrective"posture below that price point to a positive BULL TREND position above that price point.
Trading below the session Inflection Pivot is negative keeping the CORRECTIVE SELL signal in play and the MKT vulnerable. Trading above this price point is an indication that the negative vulnerability of the MKT is reduced and there is a better chance that the underlying positive momentum is going to resume.
For November 23, 2009 the following MKTs are in a BULL TREND CORRECTIVE state and the Inflection Pivot that determines the contiuation of the sell signal or a reversion to the underlying positive trend.
EQUITY FUTURES [DEC09]
SP500 1095.50
Dow Futures 10349
FTSE100 5313
Draw a line on your intra-day chart at these levels. Look for opporunty in the direction of the price bias. Executing at or near these price points will provide the best risk / reward. SELL FADE and BUY BREAKOUT should be considered as entry strategies at these levels.
Good Trading.

BULL TREND CORRECTION SIGNAL for SP, DOW, MidCap400, 5yr, 30yr, BOBL, BUND, DAX, EuroStoxx and FTSE
The Strategy Based Trading approach is the focus on the applied strategy over a specific market. Define a strategy that you are comfortable with and apply that strategy in MKTs whose technical state is in line with your strategy criteria.
Today we are going to focus on MKTs that have produced a negative signal against an underlying positive trend or a BULL TREND CORRECTION signal state. The question, is this negative signal going to follow through or is this just a 1 day event and the underlying positive momentum is going to resume. Trading above this price point is an indication that the negative vulnerability of the MKT is reduced and there is a better chance that the underlying positive momentum is going to resume.
For OCTOBER 22, 2009 below are the MKTs that are in a BULL TREND CORRECTIVE state and the Inflection Pivot that determines the contiuation of the sell signal or a reversion to the underlying positive trend.

DOW Futures - Negative Corrective Signal

The DOW Futures posted a BULL TREND CORRECTIVE signal that will keep the MKT in a questionable position below the 9577 resistance pivot. If the negative signal is going to follow though any positive push today will exhaust below here. If so expectations are minimally for a re-test of 9426 support pivot if not lower. A breach of 9577 puts the aggressive buy campaign back into gear putting the 9769 and 9898 resistance targets in play.
Ky off the 9479 Inflection Pivot for an indication o the session's tone. A held trade above here keeps the MKT's legs under it up to 9577. A dip under 9479 and the Bears try to sink their teeth in pressing support at 9426. Be patient. It's make or break. A failure from 9426 is needed to confirm yesterday's negative signal targeting 9249 on any corrective sell off. 9094 is the current extreme.
